Government Approved Kindergarten

We’re displaying the Kinder Tick to show we’re an approved provider of a Victorian Government funded and approved kindergarten program. That means our service delivers a play-based learning program, led by a qualified early childhood teacher.

The Kinder Tick shows we meet criteria in the funding guidelines set out by the Victorian Government - which means you can have confidence your child’s learning and development will be supported by qualified early childhood teachers and educators through a responsive, evidence-based Cultural learning program.

Yirram Burron is proud to display the Kinder Tick.

When families see the Kinder Tick, they can be confident:

the program will be led by a qualified early childhood teacher

children will benefit from play-based learning

the kindergarten program is funded and approved by the Victorian Government

the program meets government guidelines and complies with the National Quality Framework.

There are eligibility requirements set out by the Department of Education and Training.  We offer both 3 and 4 year old Kindergarten programs. Families with children born between January and April can choose which year to start at Three-Year-Old Kinder. These children can start in the same year they turn three, or in the year they turn four years of age. Due to staffing requirements, children can only commence in our 3-year-old room once they have turned 3.

If your child turns six in late December (between the last day of the school year and 31 December), they can attend Four-Year-Old Kindergarten in that year and attend school the following year.

Under Koorie Kids Shine Kindergarten initiative, eligible children must attend 15 hours per week for 3 & 4 year old kindergarten. Our kinder program runs between 9am – 2pm from Tuesday through to Thursday.  Additional afternoon hours of care past 2pm until 5.30pm are available for a minimal afternoon long day care cost (minus Child Care Subsidy).

When your child starts at kindergarten directly relates to the age they will start at primary school. Please speak to us about the best time for your child to start at Three-Year-Old Kinder.
